Background: Patients with chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases (CIRD) are at increased risk of infections due to immune dysregulation and the use of immunosuppressive therapies. Despite international recommendations, vaccination uptake remains suboptimal. Barriers include misinformation, safety concerns, cultural and language gaps, and insufficient patient engagement. Innovative, patient-centered educational tools are needed to address these challenges.

Objectives: Assessment of the feasibility and relevance of a bilingual educational podcast to improve vaccination awareness and support informed decision-making among patients with chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases.

Methods: A bilingual educational podcast was developed to improve vaccination awareness and support shared decision-making in patients with CIRD. This initiative was conducted through a collaboration between the Société Marocaine de Rhumatologie, the Association des patients atteints de Polyarthrite, Spondyloarthrites et Psoriasis (AMPS), the Centre Anti-Poison et de Pharmacovigilance du Maroc (CAPM), and infectious disease experts and clinical pharmacists. The multidisciplinary team included rheumatologists, infectious disease specialists, pharmacovigilance experts, public health professionals, communication specialists, and patient representatives. The podcast was structured around 10 frequently asked questions and 10 evidence-based answers addressing vaccine efficacy, safety, adverse event monitoring, pharmacovigilance, timing in relation to disease activity and immunosuppressive treatments, and common misconceptions. To ensure linguistic and cultural accessibility, questions were asked in Moroccan Arabic dialect by a trained patient expert simulating a patient perspective, and in French by a rheumatology resident simulating a patient. Expert responses were delivered using clear, accurate, and patient-centered language. The podcast is hosted on the official platform of the Moroccan Society of Rheumatology and is accessible at https://public.smr.ma/podcast/ .

Results: The podcast provides a standardized, culturally adapted educational resource addressing key patient concerns related to vaccination. Active patient involvement and the integration of pharmacovigilance expertise enhanced credibility, trust, and relevance. Dissemination through professional and patient networks facilitates integration into routine clinical practice.

Conclusions: This bilingual podcast represents an innovative, scalable patient education strategy aligned with EULAR priorities, promoting vaccination awareness and adherence in patients with chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases through multidisciplinary and patient-centered collaboration.
